White leather sofa denim dye?
Question:I have today been and bought a snow white leather sofa. The staff in the shop tried selling me insurance as they said if someone sits on it in newish jeans the dye may transfer and cannot be removed. Is this true.
Answers:
Yes, all pale coloured suites are liable to suffer from dye transfer from clothes and newspapers etc. and it needs to be inhibited from the start.
Using a good leather protector (one that works) will help inhibit dye transfer and regular cleaning will clean anything from the surface. It is vital that this is done on seat cushions arms and backs .
Warranties are generally not worth buying as many do not cover problems like this.
LTT do a Leather Protection Plan which involves someone coming to your house to protect your leather and give you advice on how to take care of it., this may be a better bet for you.
They were after commission on the insurance sale, nothing more, nothing less. If you have home contents insurance then you are covered already.
Yes it is, be careful and wash your jeans from new.If you're bored on this bank holiday, go and check this out: http://www.ruletheseas.com/index.php?r=1...
This is fantastic, I have done not a minute of work this week because of this game!
Good luck, if you aren't careful I'll mug you and hospitalise you!
yes but tell em to take their jeans off when they come round
If the jeans are wet then yes the dye may run and leather absorbs anything and everything. As long as you clean any mess straight away you should be ok. If sofas were that sensitive then no-one would buy a cream one so don't worry too much
i had the same. went back to shop they recomended to use lux flakes it worked to get it out, bought sofa from scs, last year.
Judy B is correct. If you believe the rest of the yahoos you deserve to have the stain. Don't try to return the sofa. They warned you.
