Answers:
Raised beds will be ok if you run a copper barrier around the edge, copper water pipe would work, click link below to see how copper works.

Put salt aound your bed. It is also said to keep awy dark spirits - but that is a different issue.
Paint the legs of the beds with anti vandal/burglar paint (so they can't get a grip) that might help...otherwise no!
Try beer traps -- its a nicer way to go than salt!
No it will take them just that bit longer to eat your plants.By the time they will have got to them they will have worked up an appetite.
get a few small tins or containers and put about 2" OF BEER IN THEM YOU WILL NOT SEE ANY MORE
no they will climb anywhere .they dont like copper or slug pellets, though. pellets kill but copper doesnt they just wont walk on it,although ihave never seen them walking if you know what i mean.
No way the snails in my garden are even climbing the walls and then paragliding down into the tubs. There is a slug and snail protection which does not kill them available, you build a small pile round a group of plants and thay won't climb over it. I don't know the name of it as I have less morals than you and use the old blue pellets to pop the Boogers off. Good luck.
ohhhhhh you really cant kill ickle sluggy wuggy wooos can you ??
you are a vegan so you dont deserve my advice...go and eat some nettles.
kill all slugs and snails
and foxes
and rabbits
Raised beds are fine if you have a bad back.
Just about all the remedies you have received will kill slugs effectively, but that does not answer your question. The only way to prevent slugs attacking your plants is to place copper strips around the area you are trying to protect, Slugs get an electric shock if they try to cross copper, I believe it's a chemical reaction similar to zinc and copper plates in a battery. I wish it was as easy to prevent other unwanted garden visitors.
I suggest you call either the EPA or Environmental Health if you have such a bad infestation in your bedroom.
I have slug problem despite having raised beds, (they're only 15cm high anyway). Oh & I think they can scale up the sides of things - I think they may be in my tub with the Hosta in it.
My mum gave me big pack of slug pellets but I haven't used them as I don't want to poison the hedgehog I see come into the garden some nights. That and having to remove them dried slug bodies off the garden.
I have heard of many solutions:
* crushed egg shells at base of plant; (seems to work ok)
* copper rings round base of plant
* sharp sand/grit round base of plant
* beer traps (disposing of stale beer with drowned slugs is pretty grim & smelly)
* using organic method - nematodes (haven't a clue what they are)
* encouraging hedgehogs to garden
I dislike slimy slugs too and like you don't really wish to kill them unless I have to. Saying that, if I do discover them I leave them on the patio for the birds to eat!
