Question:Also, if you have any good growing tips, these would be appreciated. Our climate is very dry, cold winter (March - September followed by very hot and dry summer. Winter is quite frosty. The soils are not very good. Indigineous plants are things like aloes and cactuses.

plant in spring and water the heck out of it.
in rainy seasons, because my father was once a farmer and he always plant his crops in rainy seasons because if he plants in summer it will kill the seads because of heat.

If you are UK then i think mid july would be good as they need alot of sun it's supposed to get hot and sunny from mid july right thru august, if you google growing weed there are loads of sites that tell u diff ways of doing it.
