Once again , i have just got home from work?
Question:and already i have had three phone calls , one offering me a new kitchen and the other two double glazing. If i needed these things i would contact them. I think all call centres should be illegal. What do you think ?

go onto the telephone preferences service register there it will drastically cut the calls you receive from these companies
I get tired of those calls too. That's what caller I.D. is for. Lol
There is a do not call registry you can put your number on to cut down an alot of these types of calls. It may even be in the front of your phone book.
They are pretty annoying - but some call centres are necessary!

If you're in the UK, look at registering with TPS - Telephone Preference Service.
Also, dont forget when completing any forms with your number on to look out for the little box to tick to say you dont want your details passed on.
Just say one of two things:
1. I thought it was the debt collector again or
2. I have just been reading my bible, let me share it with you..
Both are guaranteed to send them packing.

I think so. I'm registered with TPS (telephone preference service) and i don't seem to get any calls but my sister is the same and she still gets loads. At least she can threaten them and they hang up wuick enough. Obviously they're not bothered about wee one bedrooms! Suits me though!
they are annoying aren't they especially when they phone smack bang in the middle of your tea. and it's even worse when you go shopping round town and you have to avoid their questions such as have you had an accident in the last three years or would you like a catalogue. the ones i don't mind are the research people cos they pay you i got 8 pounds once for tasting gravy with mash
Yes they should be banned. These people are harassing us in the privacy of our own homes. Whenever they call I just sit the phone on the table and its not long till they get the message. I just wish there was something we could do to stop it permanently.
I know, it's beyond annoying. I never answer the phone. Yay for Caller ID. I get put on the dead phone lists automatically just by never answering. That will help.
You can get yourself on the Do not call lists.
There should also be a state related one. Just use your state's name then do not call list in a search engine. You'll find the link that way.
get an answering machine...or Caller I.D.
Tell them you are going bankrupt. Or you could just answer the phone and repeat everything they say.
I know up here in Canada we have a website ..( I searched under restricting telemarketers) then you fill out the form & within 6-8 weeks the calls will stop it prohibits them from calling you I also have call display I agree with you if I need them I will call.

I agree, people should have a code where by they respect
others privacy and be taken to task when found crossing
the line
it wouldnt be so bad if they didnt call so late in the evening. we cant contact a lot of companies after 6 so why should they be allowed to call us!
Have you tried telling them that you no longer wish to receive calls from their company?
As simple as this sounds, it has worked for me with the most persistent of telesales agents. I think that by law, at least Irish law, they are required to abide by your request.
Try it, at least until you are able to contact the telephone registry service that the other answers are recommending.
