Answers:
Its not something worth crying over

are you sure its the milk that smells!!
How about spraying deodrant or some kinda fragrance on it? XD... should make it smell better should it not?
Try an enzyme cleaner designed for doggie pee and poop spots. The milk is both protein and fats..and so is doggie doo.

If one treatment doesn't work, you may have the stuff in the pad below. YUCK! You can cut the carpet, remove the pad, replace with an equal size cut from some other spot (closets are great reserve areas, tape down the mat, tape down the carpet. Afterall, the carpet installers use tape all the time on seams, you are just creating your own little seam.
I love Resolve. It comes in a red spray bottle. Follow the direction. If that doesn't work, you may have to rent a carpet steamer and shampoo the carpet. Good luck.
The ultimate way to get milk odor removed... start with a diluted solution of vinegar and water, making sure to get the area fairly saturated. Wait a couple of days for the vinegar smell to go away. Then, after FULLY dry, sprinkle the area with coffee grounds. Being careful not to track them... Finally, vacuum the grounds up.

I have heard others who recommend sodium bicarb, active enzyme removers, charcoal, etc. But vinegar and coffee grounds are two of the most effective deoderizers that I know of.
Try using Febreeze? It should eliminate the after smell, left over once you cleaned up the milk.
Nothing, you need to get rid of the carpet. I spilt a glass of milk on my carpet years ago and is stank to high heaven! I washed it loads of times even with bleach and nothing got rid of the smell. All I could suggest before you bin it is Fabreeze. Wasn't around at the time.
Hi, I used diluted vinegar in my car to get rid of the milk smell. My car smelled like vinegar for approx. 2 days but after that there was no residual milk or vinegar smell! It did not stain or discolor my car's interior either.
Or
Try dampening the area where the milk spilled and then sprinkling with fresh, unused coffee grounds and leave for at least a couple of hours (overnight would probably be better), then vacuum (or, for our UK friends, hoover) up the coffee grounds
Hope you get rid of the smell
Tina
Try spraying with antibacterial spray. This will kill the bacteria that causes the smell! Hope this helps as it works for me.
wash the area with soap and water, let dry, then apply febrize. Febreeze kills any odors. It's my fav
Sh1t on it. That way, you won't be complaining about the milk anymore.
use color safe bleach and good luck or just carpet clean your whole carpets with this stuff called totally toddler . It is found at walmart in the infant section . This will make your whole place smell good and you will love the resuilts . I am sure you need to shamppo your carpets anyway . Who dosen't lol .
Use a Wet-n-Dry cleaner, a bowl of `Oxyclene` or washing powder solution, wet the carpet and suck it out repeat until solution becomes clear and carpet stops smelling of sour milk then use clean warm water to rinse. This method will remove any water based `not nice` substance,Trying to clean the carpet any other way simply involves rubbing in and hides the smell.
Have you tried using Milton Sterilising solution. It´s used for sterilising baby´s bottles, this will clean & ge rid of the smell
Whatever you do DON'T USE MILTON - OT WILL ACT LIKE BLEACH & TAKE ALL THE COLOR OUT OF YOUR CARPET!
Bicarb of soda - about 50p from all shops! heres how to use -
sprinkle all over the area - leave overnight hoover up in the morning! it will absorb the smell & will NOT stain! - if it is still smelly - as this should really be done straight away call a carpet specialist - should only cost you about £10 for spot clan & no more than £25 for an average size room - most people think it is an expensive option but really worth it for smelly spills ps bicarb soda ace for smelly fridges leave open container at the back of the fridge for 24 hours & all nasty odours will be absorbed!
hope this helps you
good luck
