Once again , i have just got home from work ,?
Question:and already i have had three phone calls , one offering me a new kitchen and the other two double glazing. If i needed these things i would contact them. I think all call centres should be illegal. What do you think ?
Answers:
yes ,get an answering machine or caller id and only answer people you know
You dont have to have them,I never get any .
Phone BT and ask to be put on the phone preference list,it stops them once and for all.
A caller ID is one of the best inventions ever .If you think its important enough you can call back or ignore it ,you will never miss family calls .
Contact your service provider and opt for the preferences service. I don't have any calls at all now since I did that.
I agree. There's nothing more irritating than getting home after work, wanting to relax / eat / cook /shower and you're dragged away from what you're doing to pick up the phone to someone who doesn't even draw breath for 30 seconds so you can say 'not interested!'. I try not to be rude because I know it's only peoples' jobs, but I do find myself gritting my teeth. If you go on to the TPS website (telephone preference service) you can register your home and mobile number, it does cut these calls down a lot.

Look in the phone book under nuisance phone calls for Telephone Preference Service. All you have to do is dial the number given from the land line you want to stop getting these cold calls on. After a few days they stop. Bliss!
its very annoying
you need to register with TPS
"The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a central opt out register whereby individuals can register their wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS."
I regisered about two years ago and I think i've only had 2 calls. When I mentioned TPS, they hung up apologising straight away.
I agree 100/100
We had 18 one week and we only had the new number for 2 weeks, we changed the number...the worst were the ones where you answer the phone and a recorded sales message begins.
Yeah register with TPS and the problem will disappear it's a great service it takes a few days for it to really kick in but wow no more phone calls.
In the mean time just play with them I used to play a game to see how long i can keep them on the phone then near the end just hang up lol great fun.
I would invite them to my place and waste their valuable time by telling them they have got the wrong address and/or wrong message!
I get lots of calls offering me credit cards and my response is quite clear: If hey are really serious to offer me the card why have they waited so far. Why don't they just send me one without phoning me!
Put all of your phone numbers on the DO NOT CALL LIST.
I always tell them i've just had a new kitchen etc!etc!. They soon get off the line as you are wasting their valuable selling time. X
Go on the telephone preference scheme through BT. Its free, just call them. Stops these nuisance calls.
Come the revolution it will be them and utility salesmen who are put up against the wall and shot
I tell them I will only continue the conversation if they give me their home phone number.why..? so i can disturb them when they are relaxing. End of conversation.
Or, tell them they have reached a convent.
It is a pain. I've just had an email about just this and saying I should tell the caller to hang on a few minutes then walk away from the phone and don't go back until they've got fed up waiting. It'll cost them money. Same with Junk mail when they send you return envelopes, fill that envelope with other people's junk mail and post it back, they have to pay postage both ways, if everyone did this maybe we could stop all this rubbish (by the way be careful not to send any mail back that has your address on).
when they call, tell them you need to put them on hold for a bit as youre eating your dinner right now, and put the phone down on the table, then rattle a few plates and cutlery etc, you know, make lots of mealtime noises.loudly. there are lots of games to play withpeople at call centres so no, they shouldnt be made illegal
