Why are some matches good and some bad?

Question:ok so i have been using some match boxes around the house and i was on the last box, it seemed that with the other cheapy flap match boxes they are made out of like cheap wood chippy material and the first time i strike they break then i go get a small box with like 50 in it, and i was like woah the rod i like made out of sturdy wood and my friend was like "yeah those are wooden matches, and whadya no, it worked on my 2nd try and didnt bend. i was wondering wat kind of matches these are? they arent the ones with the flap that hold 20 and come from a corner store. anybody know where i can buy like a box of 1000 of these on ebay? thx.
