What time of day should you water tomatoes?
Question:
Answers:
In the morning.
First thing in the morning and again in the afternoon in the hot weather once the first bunch of fruit have started to grow. The fruit will split if you give them to much. When they are about five foot tall nip out the top and then they should require about a 1 gallon, sorry no metric in my watering can, at a time. Indicators..Split fruit, Grey blotch leaves (Mildew)
Early in the morning while it is still cool so the leaves and fruit will be dry during the hot part of the day and at night. If you water them during the hot part of the day it can cause the fruit to split. If the plants are wet in the evening it leaves them subject to diseases like funguses.
Early morning so the plants can dry out before evening.
I find that the best time is early morning
before the sun gets on them.
