Any idea what kind of bug/moth this is?

Question:This morning, I saw what I thought was a bumble bee by some of my mom's flowers, but upon closer inspection, I noticed that it looked more like a moth. For a second, I almost thought it was a baby humming bird because it's wings were beating so fast. But it's legs are obviously bug legs. I took the following pictures, but it was hard to get a good shot of it because it moved so fast. I browsed around the Wisconsin DNR's website, but didn't find any answers. Does anybody have any ideas?

Answers:
It's a Nessus sphinx moth, Amphion floridensis:

Nice lobelia, first I though it might have been a flying cockroach from your description, but after seeing the picture and what it's up to (nectar seeking) I think that it's a moth.
Looks like a cicada, they come out every 7 years or so. Its been in the news that zoos go out and catch them to feed them to their animals.
email your nearest college with a entomology department. nice pictures...
I agree with sphinx moth but I odn't know if its the next one or not.
