I am planning to put a sprinkler system, my main water line is 1/2". Should I continue with 1/2" or 3/4"

Question:I would like to get the most pressure I can from the sprinkler system.

Answers:
It depends on how long the run is and what the pressure is. You would lose less pressure with a 3/4" line. If you are only going a few feet, then it doesn't matter. If you have a long run, then 3/4" is better. You can typically safely get about 5-6 gallons a minute from a 1/2" water source. More or less depending on the pressure. If you go to http://www.bwpipe.com/sch_40_pvc_flow_ch... they have a chart of friction loss and what you can safely flow. Flowing too much water can cause water hammer and break pipes.

must continue with 1/2. depending on what the flow is in yer area, you may need to have just a couple of heads per line, or as many as 8 or 10.

find someone nearby who sells Hunter sprink heads and do what they tell you---e-me if you like
Down here in Fl came out of my well 3/4 then went down to 1/2.Got about 70 ft with about 12 sprinklers works just great.Am down about 20ft drilled it my self with water pressure.
