Garage Sale..?
Question:Looking for advice on having a spectacular garage sale...
Do you think having a garage sale on Memorial Day (a monday) would be worth it? Many people are off of work that day ~ I thought it would be worth a shot..what do you think?
Answers:
The best time for a garage sale is the first Saturday of the month, the old fogies and Government freeloaders have gotten their checks..I just made about 35 sales today and got a load of bargains...I don't think a holiday would be verry good, everybody spending time with their families.Nuf Said
I think it is worth a try. The only draw back on Monday is people may be traveling home and not around to take advantage of it. When ever you do decide to have one ADVERTISE! The more people know about it the more who will come by.
Garage sales should be a week end thing. start setting up friday night and do it all week end. Just doing it on Monday will not do much unless you really advertise
Traditionally, a long weekend is never good for any business, including garage sales. People who don't go away, usually don't want to be bothered running around to garage sales. Its best to stick with a conventional weekend.
I think you'd have better luck over the weekend. In my area, Memorial Day weekend is a huge garage sale/ yard sale weekend. Good Luck Hope you make lots of money.
Usually weekends are set for garage sales. Post signs along raods, place fliers in store, restaurants, laundromats, etc in your area that offers a public bulletin board, run an ad in your local newspaper, get neighbors to participate and make it a block or neighborhood sale (draws more people when more participate)
