How do I slope rain water away from my house?

Question:On the one side of my house the ground slopes toward the house bringing water with it when it rains. I can put more dirt over there but there are two basement windows on that wall. How do I build up the slope without covering the windows?

Answers:
Depending on how much it slopes you may try a new deeper window well and fasten it to the house and use silicone to keep out the water. Then put more dirt up to it and grass seed. But you can't go too high on the foundation so that the dirt comes too close to your siding or it may rot from splashing. Make sure that you have a good gutter system to keep the water away from your house too.

Your best option, but not too cheap is to dig up most of your lawn to re-level it. Or just put in some drain pipes, thats what i did.
Install some rain gutters so that when it rains then you can direct where you want the rain to go. This is what I had to do because water was getting into my basement.
I saw this on a home garden show a while ago---get a BIG rain barrel--(55 gallon drum) cut a hole in the top AND the bottom of it.. the hole on top should be big enough for a rain gutter to slide into it so the watter runoff will fill the barrel. THEN, in the hole you drill in the side toward the BOTTOM of the barrel, get one of those SOAKER HOSES and run it through the hole and out and around whatever garden plants you have around that side of the house... this will water the plants even in the DRY spells as the rain water flows INTO the gutter, down the gutter pipe INTO the barrel and out through the soaker hose and onto your plants.
for draining water in walk side of your home make a V shape
water way slop toward out side (front yard).Same time increase ground clearance from screens till you have at least 6" Min and 10" Max clearance in foundation .
