What do you do if you put too much algacide in your pool?

Question:Help! my father put too much algacide into the pool, now it is full of foam! Is there any way to make the foam stop? We tried turning off the filter, and it appeared to have gone away, but as soon as we turn the filter on again, all the foam comes back. Is there any way to get rid of it?

Answers:
There is a defoamer made for spas that should help. Also, have your water hardness checked: if it's lower than the desired range of 200-400ppm, the water will be more susceptible to foaming. (Same as happens with laundry detergent or sometimes taking showers on vacation: generally not cheap soap, it's hard water. Makes it harder to get suds, which is what you want in this case..)

Here is the link to Leslie's version of the anti-foam..

Also, for future use, I'd recommend switching to a non-foaming algaecide. They cost more, but are generally worth it.

I know how to get rid of the foam but not the algacide.
Use a skimmer to skim out the foam.
