How do I get rid of Roaches? Fast! Please Help?

Question:we rented a room to a friend and he infested the house with roaches ina matter of weeks. I cant even eat cuz Im so grossed out. How can I get rid of these dusgusting things short of calling an exterminator. And if I do call an exterminator, will they have to cover my home in plastic?

Answers:
you can try borax or beer in saucers but if their German cockroaches you are unlikely to clear up the problem yourself.
Get a pest controller but before you make a booking make sure he uses gel if he won't get another pest controller.
If they gel you do not remove anything from the cupboards and no need to cover anything as if you spray liquid chemicals it will counteract the gel.
Gel is the safest and only way to treat German cockroaches as far as i am concerned

Madba8892 is correct 100%.
I to am a pco(if you couldn't guess by my name) and i could not agree with him more or put it better.I am in Australia and the products he mentioned are not avalable to the public here. You just got great advice for free.

Try a bug bomb. Do it on a day when you can be out of the house for 4 hours at least.
I know that Borax, which you can get from a dollar store or bigg lots, will kill them and you want to kill them fast before they get comfortable and make a nest. You can also use fogger but beware that you will have a lot of roach carcasses to clean uop all at once if you choose to take this route.
Licensed Pest Controller (major city) answer here. Stop listening to all the people who just say buy a bomb, or borax, boric acid, etc. The bombs just scatter the roaches everywhere, and the ones you don't kill go deeper, only to return when all is well. Meanwhile you have just put pesticide on every single surface in your home. Boric acid has 100% active ingredient (check the label) meaning that 100% of it is poison, for roaches, and you. When you put it down, if a breeze blows, a door closes, or fan runs, guess what; it's airborne. Do you really want to breathe that? Why it is sold to the avg consumer is beyond me!

Use a gel based pesticide such as Combat Roach Control Gel (in any supermarket or hardware store in the U.S.), Avert Gel or Maxforce (although certain states may not sell you the latter 2 without a license). If you use this properly, the roaches will eat the gel and the pass it to the other roaches and destroy the infestation without knowing. The best thing is that it is nearly non-toxic, and if you use it correctly, it lasts for 6-8 months. Also, they won't cost an arm or a leg. Usually a tube costs btwn 8-10 bucks.

My suggestion, call a Pest Control STORE, explain your situation, then tell them an exterminator recommended the GEL for your situation and ask for either Maxforce or Avert Gel. Then ask the salesperson what is the best way to use it.

If all else fails CALL A PRO. You don't pay us to put pesticide all over your house arbitrarily, you pay us to put it WHERE IT IS MOST EFFECTIVE, WITH THE LEAST EXPOSURE TO YOU!
