Egg shells in my house plants?
Question:How would you prepare eggshells for your house plants? Do they have to be boiled, or just use raw shells after you crack open and use the eggs? Do I need to add anything to them?
Answers:
I use raw egg shells as well as boiled. Just let them dry out, then crush them up and integrate them into your soil. I call mine a breakfast garden because I put in coffee grounds too.
Raw shells have more nutrients than boiled, I know that.
I ground them up,raw or in any other form.Bye
Just use the raw shells, crumbled up and tossed in the potting soil. As they turn to compost naturally, they'll deliver calcium and micro nutrients. You can also work them into the top 1" of your plants, but in that case rinse the shells so they don't smell.
Crushed egg shells are also good outside around the base of plants which are susceptible to being eaten by slugs. Slugs don't like to crawl over the sharp edges.
