Drying sunflowers?

Question:Anyone know how to dry out sunflowers to get the seeds out?

would like to know

thanks!

Answers:
I let mine dry outside and then cut the head in half. I work with one half first. I keep cutting them in half until it is easier to work with. Try putting the seeds in an airtight container after you got them out. Keep them out of the sun and moisture.

yeah i hang they out to dry for about a few days.then some of the seeds will fall out themselfs or ya can take them out yourself...i have done this for years now.never had any problems with . good luck..
Sunflowers will naturally dry out on their stalk if left...that way you do not have to guess when they are done. When the leaves around the head turn brown, cut the head off.

Some are easier to remove than others. For the tight ones, get a rubber gripper (like the kind for opening lids) and press while pushing your thumbs across the surface. You can do this without a gripper but your thumbs will get sore. A screwdriver is pretty good for stripping out seeds as well.
