I have a plant that looks like a yucca, but..?

Question:it's spiny like a yucca only has thorns identical to an aloe plant but much more painful..not as succulent, and in the middle there were reddish purplish maybe even bluish flowers about to bloom, and i mean a ton, it was in a bulb with few roots. HELP!
