How can you get rid of termites inexpensively?
Question:My mom's home has them and someone told her to pour transmission fluid around the foundation of her home. Does this work and how much does it take?

Why in the world would you take a $100,000 (or whatever the house cost) investment and put it at risk by not having the termites exterminated professionally. Yes it costs a lot but the treatment lasts and most good companies guarantee their work.
And does she really want to smell diesel fuel for the next year and not be able to plant anything near the house because the petroleum products will kill the plants.
We sell termite killers but I never recommend it for homes--just wood piles, stumps, etc.
Actually, it should be Diesel Fuel... I don't know about Transmission fluid... but Diesel Fuel works... just make sure it soaks into the ground... the average 1200 square foot house will take a full 55 gallon container.
