Three pests...?
Question:I have three pests I need help with. I'll try to keep this short. I just bought a house and:
1), I am sure I have a mole in my yard. How do I get rid of it? I assume traps...can they be bought at everyday stores like Wal-Mart or is there a more humane way of just running them off without killing them? I am sure it is absolutly ruining my yard!!
2). Little flying ants. They are only seen at night and they swarm to my TV. I get about 6 on there, get a Kleenex and squish them all, sit down and like three minutes later, I have 5 more on there! Do I need to bomb the house? I have cats so would prefer not to but I can't even image what they are after since I don't have any food sitting out or anything.
3) SLUGS (ew). After it poured all weekend every time I went outside I had greenish slugs on the side of my house. All sizes. Then last night when I went out to my porch (after it rained) there were black ones on my porch. All sizes too. They looked like leeches! Did...

Here are my suggestions:
For the moles - I've heard that if you put some Juicy Fruit (or some other sweet tasting gum) in their burrows they will eat it and die. Or you can go to http://www.tesco-shopping.com/mole%20cha... and purchase one of their Mole Chasers. The moles supposedly will leave and won't return, just change the batteries every 4 months.
As far as the little flying ants - are you sure they're flying ants and not termites? If they're termites, hire a termite company to get rid of them. Usually you can actually hear them chewing in the walls if you have an infestation. If they're flying ants, I believe they fly only once a year during their colonization period. They should not be around too long.
You can put out tins of beer for the slugs. They're attracted to it and will drown in it. Can be a bit messy though and you have to replace the tins after a rain. Or you can buy slug pellets at you local garden store. It's a slug poison. Or you can sprinkle salt on them but that's really a gross way to kill them. Sort of like the Wicked Witch of the West - they slowly melt.
Good luck.
Ok 1 about the mole you need to buy this thing that makes an annoying sound to chase it away. It's humane because it doesn't kill them.
About the bugs on your TV you may have to bomb or have a pest guy come out to locate a nest.
The slugs you may have to just live with it or put beer or whiskey in a spray bottle and spray it all over them. It usually kills them humanly because they get drunk and then die.
for the bugs .go to Home depot buy a huge bottle of insect killer...it has a pump with a hose for easy spraying...that will avoid them to get through your windows...For the mole, get a dog...the help to scare the away...if you don't get a dog...put Mole traps around the yard..only problem..you will have to get rid of the dead animal afterwards...i would get a Dog, good luck!
Go to Home Depot or Lowes or any garden center and they could maybe help u with ur problem. I know that u can get something to put on ur lawn to take care of all those problems.
1. For your mole problem start taking care of cats, they would chase the moles/rats away.
2. For the flying ants, what we usually do get the plastic of the cigarette pack, it's like a pouch, tape one lip of it on to your ceiling light. Put on all the ceiling lights. And watch all those flying ants go all in. Don't ask me why, since we were kid this is what the old people do here. Then you could feed it to your pet fish, like an arowana.
3. For your slugs and this is also effective to coackroaches. In cans put all the left over beers and position it all to different parts of your garden. And after a day or two you'll see it filled with slugs and roaches, they love to drink the beer and end up drowning themselves. An added tip, if you enjoy fishing you could spread mayonnaise in a can and leave it in the garden. And later you'll find alot of live roaches (that couldn't escape) for bait for your next fishing expedition. God bless.
I don't know about the others, but the little flying ants? are you sure there ants or flying termites? Sounds like you need to have someone come out and look at these issues for you.
Best of luck on all> Sorry I couldn't be of more help:(
