Can I return, instead of exchanging a used propane grill tank?

Question:I inherited a year-old, somewhat rusty propane tank with some gas in it. I got rid fo the grill it came with and now need to get rid of the tank, hopefully recovering a few dollars. I know one can exchange these things, but would anybody/place buy-back a used tank outright? I tried offering it on craigslist for $20, but no luck. It's Blue Rhino brand, and I'm in Maryland (metro DC). Thanks

Answers:
i work for a very large hardware store that sells new and exchanges empty tanks.i know they would never buy it back, because then they would be stuck with something they couldn't sell to anyone. maybe have a garage sale and see if you can sell it that way.

You might try asking around your neighborhood. Since summer is upon us, everyone is outside cooking on their grills. I haven't heard of a place that actually pays cash for partially filled tanks. If you have a campground or RV park nearby, try selling it there.
No that's an item that you have to dispose of in a proper way and that's a fire dept. item they will dispose of it the right way for you no store will take it, it's a dangerous substance to return, forget it go to the fire dept with it.
