Will card board over my windows help keep heat out?

Question:if not any simple suggestions

Answers:
The cardboard material will offer little R-value, or resistance to heat transfer. So if it's 20 degrees hotter outside than inside, you will still get some heat gain through that window.

However, the carboard will block solar heat gain - essentially the direct or indirect sunlight you'd get through that window. (radiation heat). It that sense, you would be limiting the heat absorbed into the house through that window, especially if you are getting lots of direct sunlight into that window.

If you want the best of both worlds, buy a panel of rigid insulation or beadboard and trim it to fit inside the window opening. This would also probably look a lot more attractive than basic cardboard to passers-by.

Yes, but it will be ugly. I recommend some of those $6 room darkening shades from Wal
There is a actually a clear plastic that you can use (check your local hardware stores) that you can use and it works pretty well and won't block your sunlight.
CARD BOARD WILL HELP BUT BETTER THAN THAT IS FOIL, SHIINY SIDE OUT
Plant some trees in front of the windows, but this is obviously a long-term solution.
They sell rubber-backed curtains. They reduce heat from penetrating. Also, some blinds will cut the heat.
