Can I prune an aloe vera plant?
Question:I have an aloe plant that apparently likes its surroundings as it's gotten rather large. The problem is that I don't want it quite so big so I am wondering if it's OK for me to cut the leaves back to a more manageable length? The plant is in a small pot (4") and I was hoping the plant would remain small. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

These love abuse.that is how Indians healed themselves by cutting off a piece. Get a bigger 6" pot and let it grow since trimming it back will make it look ugly.
Maybe.
Yes it can be pruned. It would be best to pull the leaves out from the base of the plant, but cutting them will also be fine. They are very hardy. An aloe vera plant of mine is still flourushing after my dog dug it up and chewed off the roots!
You dont have to waste the cuttings either, just put them in the vegetable crisper in the fridge to use when you need them!
You can't prune it.And if you leave it in that small pot, it will eventually die. What you do is to take off outer leaves, and plant just the leaf in a small pot. Aloe vera is pretty easy to grow, usually will strike a root on it's own. If you want a use for spare leaves just pop in bag, leave in Frig, and when you burn yourself or have a cut, squeeze the gel in leaf on wound. Also great for sunburn.
