Answers:
i used to have a key metre and paid 12 pounds a week,i was told you pay a 3 pound standing charge for a key metre ,i don't think it was that bad as i have two computers on all day and a tropical fish tank running 24 hours a day,it has two pumps running heaters and a bubble machine,i have a 4 bedroom house and the washing machine and TV are always on with the kids at home,
i now pay by direct debit,as i as always losing the key and pay 40 pounds a month
Too much is the simple answer. My electricity bill went up 80 percent over this time last year. I pay the bill when it comes in, but I think DDO is probably cheaper. Living in the sticks I have no gas so it's all electric.
Whether by paying by key meter is more expensive I do not know, but if you're up to date with your energy company and don't owe them any money I suspect it would be cheaper if you asked for a normal meter.
we are also on the key meter and used to spend a fortune,or what seemed like it,we have recently swapped company's from British gas who supplied us with both to southern electric..there prices, customer service etc are brilliant,at the moment we are spending about £6.00 a week? and before any one pipes up ..no i don't work for them?
I have a card meter which works the same way as a key meter and I buy a £5 card every week, usually on the same day each week and there is usually the same amount left in the meter before I put the card in so I pretty much use £5 worth each week.
when I had a key metre about £15 a week that was three years ago
now paying dd about £7 a week now that the prices have gone up
In Southern California running an air-conditioning my electric bill is about £1.5 per week (after conversion). I also have direct debit but the idiots from the power company still send me three statements per month -so much for paperwork reduction!
i use a key meter so i can monitor what I'm using. i have 4 kids and everyday i use the washing machine, tumble dryer dishwasher, and those things eat the electric, so i use around £30 a week!
it depends what sort if heating you have i have just moved out of a 2 bed flat which had electric storage heaters ,using a washing machine and the normal house hold items i was using a key meter and i was spending nearly £50 a week on electric and i was there for 2 years i did get in contact with my electric company and they said that was right for what i was using.
i pay by key meter
i have a 3 bed house
i have
washing machine
dishwasher
tumble dryer
fridge freezer
chest freezer
tvs ect
and at the most bearing in mind i wash at least 3 loads a day i only use £ 8. 00
