When is the first time I should fertilize new grass grown in the spring?

Question:I just planted grass the end of April

Answers:
If you used starter fertilizer, you are good for 6 -10 weeks or so. When you do fertilize, do so at a less rate than what is normally recommended. That is set the spreader to half the recommended application rate. You've got baby grass, it needs TLC for awhile.

If no starter fert is used then you should fert after the third or fourth mowing. If it was then your good for the first 6-10 weeks. When you apply read the bag of the fert as some differ on suggestions.
