Why dont we build our houses in brick/veneer,istead of double brick?

Question:using metal frames, saving our forests and probably money

Answers:
double brick is supposed to be better than veneer due to insulation properties and i am sure many other reasons ,but as for metal frames i would not advise it
one problem is people get a false sense of security thinking they won,t get termites...so they don't have regular inspections. If you have copotermies asinaciformis and they attack a steel framed house , they go through it quickly as there is not much timber but they secrete an acid that corrodes steel and can be major to repair
If a steel frame house catches fire and the fire is hot enough the whole frame can buckle and the building ruined as what happened at 9 11
you are right we need to find an alternative to cutting down our forests but i believe steel is not the answer

Personnel preference. Years of experience says Brick last for a long time, and is a statement of quality. You can still use metal framing with a veneer outer wall. and bricks are made of clay. Last I checked most veneers have some polymer component. Polymer is an oil based product. So how is that better than bricks.
