Mice Bait.. how long does it take to work?
Question:I have mice in my roof. I can hear them running around in the middle of the night. We purchased mice bait and threw it up in the roof through the man hole. How long does it take for the little critters to die? I know they are eating it as I can hear them moving the bait around. They need to die NOW!
Answers:
rodents do not have good eye sight. they like to run with their body's brushing against a surface.
throwing baits it the roof is not really good enough.get in the roof void and try to get the baits into the eaves...also look for spots which have lots of dropping as they are creators of habit place baits there.
use baits that dehydrate them so the leave the roof in search of water and die.talon is a good brand.
don't worry about killing them as they are disease carrying and there habit of chewing electrical wires can set your home on fire..and this could kill you..
it.s not like there endangered.
one other thing...check you yard every morning for dead rodents as dogs can get secondary poisoning
A good quality mouse bait like rat kill takes about 7 days to kill the consumer, but you must keep at the baiting as one set of baits won't be totaly efective, you must check the baits and re apply them every 2 days.
Within a couple days you should smell their death.
You should use old fashioned mice traps with peanut butter as bait.
That way you can dispose of their nasty little corpses.
ADDING DETAILS: Also, they will be sick from the poison and be more likely to come down and bite.
I like glue traps. Much more entertaining.
Make the bait seem much more inviting to them by mixing it with peanut butter. I had a real mice problem and throwing balls of these into the eaves of the attic took care of the whole infestation over the period of one month.
It's pretty nasty when they start dying though, because the bait causes them to hemorrhage inside, killing them from internal bleeding. Which is very painful for them. They scream quite loudly, and drum the ceiling boards as they die. (I am not exaggerating here...this is exactly what happened.)
I have never seen a mouse come down out of the attic and bite anything though as someone else claimed.
I suggest you go around your house and find where they are getting in as well, so that you can close it off.
how Cruel ! they will stink you out!!
you should have got friendly cages & let them go & fix your roof where they are getting in or you will have to do that forever, but why KILL the poor little pets
Tell them to die now.
You might need to add more bait because you don't know how many are actually there. Try using Tom Cat liquid. This way they run to water, shrink and die with no odor.
You might need a professional before they are all gone.
