What is the brightest, but energy efficient type of light bulb for a room?

Question:I prefer no orange-ish, sleepy light.i don't know much about light bulbs so the more detail one which one to get the better! thanks

Answers:
Compact fluorescents generally produce many more lumens per watt than an incandescent, so they are more effecient. A typical 100 watt incandescent A19 bulb produces 1260 lumens and has an average life of 750 hours. A 23 watt compact fluorescent produces 1600 lumens and has an average life of 8000 hours.
If you want to spend the money, since compact fluorescents are expensive, buy one or two every other week and gradually replace all your lights.

Fluorescent light is what your looking for.
Well a fixture might have a limit on how much wattage your bulbs should be, but a light in your ceiling should be able to accomodate a 100 watt bulb. These are some of the brightest that have a intermediate base, which is the most common. Phillips makes a bulb that are called reveal, which have a more natural light to them. WalMart sells them, but any other place should have them as well.
Compact fluorescent are very efficient and give off a good light. They are not cheap though. I do figure that I break about even on the old power bill. They will make me money in the long run!!
