Need a snail repellant that is all natural; won't hurt my dogs if they eat it-- possibly organic?

SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE!
Slugs and snails (there is a difference - slugs don't have shells) can be controlled with BEER! Yes, BEER! Set flat shallow containers, (they don't have to be large or deep - 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep is fine), in the area you wish to protect, such that the top edge of the container is at ground level (like a swimming pool), and simply fill with beer - the container, not you! The beer attracts the critters and then nails 'em.

if you put beer out for them in some saucers in the evening it kills slugs. they get totally wasted that night and die by morning.
its a pretty humane way of dealing with them too. totally in accord with the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you, right? and wouldnt you like it if somebody put free beer out for you?
and it doesnt take a whole lot of beer, so i think your dogs would be ok if they happen to get into it.
