Do ultrasonic squirrel deterrents work - help they're eating the car cables?

no, but 12 gauge squirrel deterrents do... hahahaa.
dunno where ur from but where i live i can and do own a 12 and 20 gauge shotgun, since i was 16

What kind of squirrels? red ones are forunately (or unfortunately, perhaps in oyur case) protected. Greys last I checked, could be legally hunted as their pushing out the uk native red ones.
And rather than 12 gauge as suggested, a normal air rifle would suffice, which doesnt have all the associated costs - or a subsequent police visit (either to ensure suitable storage or to arrest you for possesing a illegal fire arm).
One effective alterantive is couple of (perhaps) pet, hunting kitty cats - that would have some nice squirrels for lunch. Possibly a more enviromentally friendly alternative. A predator that is present is oft quite effective as deterrant.
You can try to put some squirrel feeders out for them in some place further away from the car. Then their attention will be diverted, and they wouldn't need the car cables.
Who wants to eat cables when there are delicious nuts about! They are probably just hungry...
Never heard of squirrels eating car cables before..but have known mice to! Could be mice are living somewhere in seating of car...i'd look for droppings and can usually smell if mice are about! If there are droppings about.you can either feed the little things in order to keep them away from your cables! or put a mouse trap or two in safe places,with any kind of bait in there to get rid of them!
Depends on your point of view..you either love 'em or hate 'em. But I do doubt that squirrels would be so inquisitive as to attempt to eat your cables, when they much prefer foraging for more tastier morsels. Good luck and good hunting!
