Answers:
Glass of port left out overnight gets good results. Only need a little in the bottom. Of course emptying it in the morning is great fun but nothing is perfect.

Roaches are pretty resilient I don't think anything will kill them that wouldn't be toxic to you or your pets.
A well-placed heel.
