Has anyone managed to grow a peanut in the uk?

Question:i have just discovered an unusual looking plant growing in my garden, when i pulled it out of the ground i realised that it was actually a growing peanut that a squirrel had obviously burried. It seems to be growing really well. I was just wondering if anyone has found one growing in their garden as on the internet it says that only hot country's like america, india, china etc can grow them!

Answers:
Yes, these are quite easy to grow, and they have tiny white flowers too. If you want to be sure of success, plant some in a large pot, and put on the kitchen windowsill, with plenty of light and water you will be sure of having your own grown peanuts (or groundnuts), though not enough to put KP out of business.

Have grown ground (pea) nuts in the UK for years, they have to be the fresh ones in the shell tho.

Salted ones don't work.
Ive went "nuts" a few times the state this place is in, but Ive never grew peanuts.
Oh Yes! They plant them in little trays and leave then in the house of commons, but nothing interesting ever comes up!
