How do you decide what product to buy?

My low income decides.
Research and look into how others have reviewed it.
read about them and ask people what they like better and why
refer to maslows' heirarchy of needs, to establish why you buy.
then google "buyer behaviour" to establish the different purchasing groups.i.e innovator, laggard etc ( i forgot the rest)
I think what you need to do is do your studying and you need to figure out what is best for you.
I use the internet to research exactly what I need, then its a game I play as to where I can get the best price for it...Nuf Said
I look at it, and think... Does it hold up, or will it fall apart? Does it look like the best or one of the best of what it is? Will it stand out, or will others see it as blending (fading) in? When it stands out, will it be exceptional or ridiculous? Will it stand a test of time? What will others think once they see this.
In my mind, I step away from my surroundings and try to see everything like someone else seeing it for the first time.
I over shop. What I mean is I check all.. and I mean all sources before I get out my checkbook.
This method makes some uncomfortable but over the years has saved me a ton of money.
i buy whatever is new and shiny with bright colors. i buy what the commercials show me...i am a complete consumer--when it comes to frivilous things.
but you're probably talking about big purchases (such as electronics or cars or houses or something...), well then for those more serious investments i go by "word of mouth" i go to people i know who would know more than me about whatever it is i am trying to buy and ask their opinions. and then i buy it anyway.
I am a member of a Consumer Association, which publishes a monthly report about the tests they perform. I can also access their Internet site.
Then I decide according to my budget etc. but I always search the best compromise between price and quality.
