What risk is involved when moving a refridgerator?
Question:We are putting our fridge in the back of our SUV, are there any risks (like leaking refridgerant) or anything else we should know first? Thanks ♥
Answers:
Let it sit upright for at least an hour to let the oil settle back in the motor if you must transport it laying down. Take shelves, crispers and any loose cover out.
WHEN YOU GET A NEW FRIDGE THEY TELL YOU TO WAIT LIKE UP TP 5 HRS TO PLUG IT IN FOR THE GAS TO SETTLE. SO IM ASSUMING YOU MIGHT WANT TO WAIT A BIT AFTER MOVING IT SO YOU DON'T RUN INTO ANY PROBLEMS.
There really isn't any risk as long as you don't damage or break the coils on the back of it. You may consider taking all the crap inside of it out (shelves, etc) so it doesn't shift around during movement and potentially break something. You can also very easily take off the handle with a screwdriver so you can load it on it's front without damaging the back coils or breaking the handle off the front or having the doors flop open on it's side. Enjoy!
Just something else to consider. Your floor. I moved our refridge out to hook up a filter and damaged the hardwood floors without protecting them. Just a thought.
Other than it falling on you?
