For how long does a banana plant live?

Question:

Answers:
About 25 years or longer.

I am not exactly sure but after they produce the palm is cut and a sprout (sucker) is allowed to grow into another palm to produce another cluster of bananas.
if you live in an area where you get cold winters it will die down. you need to mulch heavily to keep the roots from freezing and killing the plant. ppl usually saw the top down and allow it to put out new growth come spring.
the tree will bloom and produce bananas and will contiinue to thrive for 20 some odd years. each tree only produces one bunch of bananas though. to get more fruit you will need to chop down the tree and allow the babies to grow.
