Wanting to put tile up in shower area in 2 bathrooms, would this work?
Question:Okay so we got a fixer-upper and I wanna put tile in the shower areas in the 2 bathrooms, they are currently wall papered. Can I put it over the wall paper? and do I need the self-stick kind or do I need a paste or something? I am looking at the 4"x4" shower tiles from lowes.

There is more prep you need to do and it should go all the way to the studs. Do not apply the tile over wall paper!
Wall paper will wear off as years passes by. Remove the wall paper, then put up the tiles with cement.
Remove the wall paper and see what is behind it, you can't possibly hope to have something stick to wall paper adequately. If you have plaster or greenboard or tile back, concrete looking stuff, you have a tiling surface. If not, you need to install tile backer, Hardibacker is easier to work with. Then set tile, get a good book on how, Home Depot has one called Tiling 123 I like.
self stick might just fall over, best thing would be to put it up
with cement, just make sure to measure area before cutting tiles for best fit.
also you might want to search the net (or ask a person at the place) for more specifics on such a project.
No, you cannot put tile over wallpaper and if I wasn't a one=fingered typist I would explain the complete procedure. Been setting tile for just less than 40 years now. But what I will do is find you a link to a site that will explain how. Good Luck
Here's a good one.
