Why is rain water better than tap water for the yard?

Question:

Answers:
because rain is natural
and doesnt have anything added to it

tap water often contains fluoride, chlorine, lead and other chemicals
it is treated with bleach and chemicals in order to make it usable for drinking- therfore it canbe more harmful to plants.
For starters, you don't have to pay for it. Secondly, tap water has additives in it to "purify" it for human consumption (usually flouride, sometimes chlorine in small amounts) and those additives are not good for grass.
murrayc said it all.
While I agree that there are no additives in rain water, there is no evidence that rain water is "better" for a lawn than tap water.

Water to the irrigation system (sprinklers) is the same water piped into the home. My lawn flourishes with it.
If it is actually better then it has to be down to the additives in tap water, if your lawn is used to tap water though there should'nt be any difference, especially if you use lawn fertilisers.
No added man-made chemicals!!
