Help! how to a get rid of a family of mice in my house?

Question:I have 2 indoor cats and they have killed 5 in 2 weeks (plus traps in the basement have killed 2) BUT my cats are getting sick from killing these mice! They have some parasite that keeps giving my kitties infections! How do I get rid of them quickly so my cats will stop killing them and getting sick? Plus I have 2 toddlers and I am grossed out with the thought of these mice dead or alive roaming around. Not to mention when the cats get ill they go to the bathroom outside of their litter box. HELP please!!

Answers:
first put the cats outside.then put glue traps and regular spring traps with peanut butter in them...fast and in 2/3 days u will get them all

Set lots of traps all over the house but expecially where there is something for them to eat. Us the lean from bacon as bait, it is the best.
The fastest way I found involves the old-fashioned mouse trap.

Take the trap and instead of baiting with cheese, bait it with a piece of a candy bar, Snickers seems to be best.

I've used this several times and found it to work within hours each time. My cousin had a mouse for 2 weeks and I told her this, she said she caught it the night I told her.

Also start looking for reasons why you have a mouse problem. Are you near a field? Would it be possible to mow farther around your house to seperate if from the field? Are their entrance holes into your house that these mice are using?
OMG..call a pest inspector ASAP...these mice may have some kind of infection. I know cats are good at killing mice but that is gross.why would you want your cats to have mice in their mouth?
I would tell you to go onto e-bay or online somewhere and look for a product used by pros b/c i was one called "finalblox" it is a bait . all you do is track the droppings to a corner .rats, mice are basicly blind so place the bait in the corner and in about 5-7 days your problem should be gone.
be sure to get the small corner case it's black in color. also you can call your local bug guy sometimes they can give it to you cheaper just be careful for contracts...
There are humane mouse traps that you can get from Wal-Mart. They're about a dollar a piece. They're clear little boxes with a door on one end. Put a piece of a cracker with some peanut butter on it to attract them. Once they go in, they can't get back out. No poisons, so it's safe for kids and pets, and they don't get stuck to them so you have to feel guilty about killing them or making them suffer.

Just to make sure they didn't come back, I put on some gloves, took the traps, and drove them about a mile down the road and set them free...lol!

To keep them from getting back in, ball up some steel wool and put it in any cracks open to the outside, then seal it in with expanding foam.
