What size is a double bed in metric?

Question:Its annoying me at this statge, i live in a country (Éire / Ireland) where we're taught to ignore imperial messurments and use metric only but then i go looking to buy a double bed (standard in US?) its in imperial. so could anyone give me an idea of the size width and length of a double bed in metric meters?

Answers:
the mattress size for the US Australia and the UK is

imperial is 54'' x 75''
metric is 1.38 × 1.90 m
(width × length)

but in Europe the size is
imperial is 55" × 79"
metric is 1.4 × 2 m

hope this helps

thanks

Mick

Its 135cm x 190cm

The site below also has a comparison chart of the three main regions.

The reason for the imperial measurements is because we are lamped in with the UK and they still use imperial far too much.
