How to grow alfalfa sprouts?

Question:I tried growing them on cotton. It grew but it got molds on them. I didn't want it to get dirty 'cause i'm going to eat them. Do i really need to use soil to grow it?

Answers:
Glass jars as stated in other answer will work fine and it's cheap. Try using panty hose/ nylons which you've cut to fit the top of the jar, with a rubber band to fasten this homemade lid to jar.
I use a sprouter, which is a plastic round container, which comes with a lid that has a bunch of holes in it for air and rinsing. You can pay all different amounts for them depending on who the manufacturer is. Check at Wal-Mart, they may have them.
I buy my seeds from the health food store. There are all kinds of sprouts you can grow, not just alfalfa, in case you're interested.
Make sure you rinse out the sprouts every few hours. Air is all you need to grow them, plus water to rinse them off.
When they're ready for eating, I soak them in cool water to remove the seed husks. Some of the husks won't come off but they won't hurt you, and you really can't taste them. Have fun!

no! did this with my kids years ago...a clean glass jar works...most health food stores will give you more ideas
