Are white fluorescent light bulbs better for the eyes or the yellow incandescent ones?
Question:I am a student and the light bulb in my room just burnt out. Wondering which type of light bulb is best for my eyes as I am often indoors studying or using my laptop. I have heard old folk's tales that yellow light is better for the eyes? Information between the different types of light bulbs available would also be much appreciated.
Answers:
In my bedroom I use a blue bulb, it states on the packet that its the closest thing to daylight. I find I can read longer as my eyes don't tire as quickly which, as a student, would definately benefit you.
white light is brighter, , but fluorescent tubes have a tendency to flicker... maybe thats why people say bulbs are better
I have to agree - the blue bulbs are better!
The light bulb you choose will set the mood. The light cast can be healthier for you and the planet. There are incandescent bulbs, fluorescent and (CF) compact fluroescent, as well as halogens on the market today.
Wattage is the standard measure and since CF bulbs use less electricity the wattage is smaller but the output of light is the same making them cost efficient. Longer lasting light bulbs save money over the cost of buying new ones. Compact Fluorescent bulbs save about 75% in energy costs and last up to sixteen times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
Full Spectrum lights offer a bright white that is more like the natural outdoor light. These lights make reading easier and enhance overall well being, especially on darker days.
