Getting rid of house flies.?

Question:A week ago I returned from a 2 week work engagement to find lots of little white worms on my kitchen floor. I had emptied the bin before I left but unfortunately the bag leaked, hence food for the horrid little things. The bin was promptly washed and bleached, along with the floor and I think I got rid of the buggers. Peace resumed but last night I came home to find my living room windows swarming with flies. No windows were open during the day so they must have come from inside. I opened the windows and kicked them all out, making sure there weren't any left, but today the same thing happened. I've looked on www.howtogetridofthings.com, or what ever it's called but all that tells me is how to stop it happening in the first place and how to get rid of the odd fly. I have a dozen a day... They must have nested somewhere but I can't find where. How do I get rid of them?

Answers:
i'v had a similar problem. i went to wilkinsons and got a fly repellant (not fly spray, it looks a bit like one of those pop up air fresheners) and some window stickers. they act like fly paper but are in the shape of sunflowers and you just stick them in the corner of the window.
both things together are working a treat, and they only cost a couple of quid. can get them from betterware too.
good luck

you best stay in here where you will be nice ans safe
They are probably hatching under the cabinets or linoleum. If you don't mind the look of flypaper, that seemed to work quite well for us.
Fly paper works, wash the surfaces with hot water and soap...

Laundry soap works well as a control poison for wood.

You may also want to get a bait trap (fly trap) and use ripe bananas...
unless you pay for exterminators the only way i know are if they are little black flies is to keep several bottles/saucers of open vinager and the will go in there.

if you are saying the are b/bottle type flies then buy an electric fly killer (kills em like you see in a chippie (argos) ) or spray everywhere with fly spray and still use the above methods.

leave a small window for any to get out and repeat process for a few days. they should all be gone by then bar 1or2 which is normal. (they only live for 2/3 days at most so if you start by killing them off the ones that survive will leave asap.)
Yuk, I feel sorry for you I hate flies. The little white worms were maggots. Try to find where they are .and get rid in a plastic bag and tie it securely or flush them down the loo.
They hate lavender so wipe it around the window frames etc.,
It reminds me of when I bought some white maggots from the fishing tackle shop which was put in newspaper. I meant to use them the next day so I put them in a drawer in the kitchen. When I opened the drawer the maggots ate through the paper and hatched out into horrible black flies. I had to act fast and rushed into the living room and grabbed the spray can for all insects and gave them a good soaking and that killed them.
