How do you best take care of a japanese maple? How often do you need to water?

Question:Just bought a 5 foot japanese maple and its starting to wilt a little bit. Any suggestions on how best to take care of these trees?

Answers:
Have you put it in the ground yet? If so, water at least every other day and water deep. I moved my 4 ft Japanese maple from the front yard to the back and initially it started to wilt and I thought maybe I killed it. But I kept watering it real good and it perked back up and is fine now.

There are a lot of good books pertaining to the japanese maple, Bonsai Expert Peter Adams has a few published, but you should water once a day, until it is established, then you can taper off a little bit, depending on the climate where you live.
