Ant problem??

Question:i have ants on my front porch... what could i do to get rid of them... is there any other option besides bug spray?

Answers:
Use grits, sprinkle grits, uncooked on top of the porch, or better yet on their ant bed and then wait a day and then spray it with the hose. I swear this works. I was doubtful at first but what happens is that the ants take the grit pieces down to their ant beds and queen and they eat it and then it makes them swell up and well that's the end of the ants. You might have to do this is few times a year but it will kill the ants without hurting the enviroment.

I have a Terro Liquid Ant Bait container hidden behind a couple of my flower pots. Make sure it is out of the rain and will not get tipped over, nor will be disturbed by pets. I never realized how many ants I had until I put it out. The bait was almost black with ants for two days and now they are gone.
BORAX buy a box of borax in the laundry isle at the grocery store and sprinkle it around on the ground by your front porch.
You may be able to use boric acid or a bait type poison for the ants. Also, around the perimiter of the porch, you can apply a granular pest application. Someone at your local Lowe's or Home Depot should be able to piont you towards some of these products.
Vinegar, spray that. They hate it. I works for me on with everything I need to keep ants off of and I live in the woods.
Hmm I had ant problems on my wall. I just squirted them with waterguns because it was entertaining(kind of mean though)and put some ant poison(forgot the kind) on the walls so when they walked up the walls they would step in the poison.
Try washing your porch with clorox.
I agree with the uncooked grits. I've done that plenty of times, and it works wonders, because it causes the ants to literally "POP!"

*It's sooo inexpensive, and the most effective, cause check it out...bugs and such eventually build up tolerances to pesticides and stuff, so, grits is the way to go!*

The site I provided is really good to read.
BORAX dry soap powder worked real good for me when I had them in my kitchen. I dumped it all along the edges of the kitchen and after about a week I didn't see any more of them.

hope this helps
i've heard that laying coffee grounds around will help. i recently did so myself and it seems to have worked. i used fresh and used grounds. Hope this helps you as well.
IF THEY ARE SMALL ANTS USE A SPRAY. IF THEY ARE LARGE THEY COULD BE CARPENTER ANTS AND THEY CAN DO A GREAT DEAL OF DAMAGE. CATCH A FEW AND TAKE THEM TO THE STORE.
are they holding hands? I mean, is there a lot of them and they seem to be making a long row? well follow the line and see where they are going and remove the food that they are after. Or, of they are carrying something to their nest find out where their nest is and if you don't have kids around then sprinkle Amdro on the next and that should get rid of them. Ants on the porch are normal...that is if they are small brownie ants or slim medium ants. Now if they are big in size then you have a wood problem as they could be carpenter ants and in that case you need to call a professional. That professional bug person should also check around the cement and for termites. Occasionally some animal or something has died outside and the ants are around till their feast is done. So it's up to you to figure out if there are a lot of ants or just ants normally living there. You will not get rid of ants altogether. If you don't have children or pets around go ahead and spray some Raid House and Garden killer on them.
