Hosed by Windmill Pools? What remedies have you pursued?

Question:I'd like to know who's had problems with windmill pools and what they've done to resolve their issues (BBB, Atty General, etc.) My company has contracted to "rescue" a number of their unfinished projects. It's terribly sad to see so many people be taken advantage of this way. Certainly there's strength in numbers, so if enough people who have been wronged make enough noise in the right forum, hopefully we'll be able to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

The Dallas BBB has several tips that will help keep you out of this situation. If you're considering getting a swimming pool, please do your research before signing with anyone. It's a huge investment - it's worth doing right, even if that means not going with the lowest bidder or taking a few months to do your research.

Cash buyers might consider getting a loan, simply because the paper trail makes it easier to get money back if you do get hosed by a builder. You can always pay the loan back on the first payment.

Answers:
Report this to the Consumers affairs in your state. They are responsible for this fraud. They are also the ones that can reimburse you. Check the insurer of the contractor. Look for the clause for shoddy work or negligence or intent to defraud. Also check to see if his license is current or if he has one for your state. Did he get a permit for the work? Ask the building inspectors for their reports. Also check with his suppliers to see if they were paid.

I dont really have the answer, uther than do not go with Windmill pools. The continueance of bad reporting from the news, forums, and others I have been in contact with.

What I guess we will do is to sub the rest of the pool out ourselves. It is my understanding that once a pool is gunited no other company will touch it. Thank goodness we are not there yet.
Good Luck to all...
