How to get rid of tiny black flies in the house?
Question:My home is clean, but i do have a few plants around. Recently I changed the compost for some of the plants. Could this be a reason why i have the flies all over my house- if so, should i use new compost and how do i get rid of the current infestation that has reached every corner of the house? They're driving me insane :(

Have a bath u smelly dog and the flys will go away by themselves!!!
They might be "drain flies". If they look like little stealth fighter flies that's what they are and they come from old drains like in a tub, shower, basement etc. They breed in the organic waste that has built up inside the pipes over the years.
They are awful i agree so be nice to any spiders you may have around because they help catch a few!
You need an enzyme drain cleaner to kill them. Bleach and other drain stuff doesn't do it. You have to get an enzyme cleaner. About $10 at ACE Hardware and it takes a bit of time but it does work eventually.
Try putting up those fly ribbon things too- they are really sticky and you can hang them up near where you think the source is and catch more of them in the meantime.

Remove the offending plants.
Buy several cans of fly spray and dose every room at the same time.
Use a can /room, keep doors closed for half an hour.
Check one room at a time to make sure all flies are dead then open the windows to air out. Spray direct on any that are still kicking.
Or light Citronella candles and leave them to burn, they are only a repelant not a killer so they might drive them out of the windows.
Spray the house with insecticide, but i would leave the house for a while and i would get a proffesiona to do it. I would also soort the problem out soon, since they could damage your house.
