How can i safely post a small plant?

Question:I have some small, 6 inch tall, chilli plants that I want to post to someone. Can anyone suggest a safe method to do this without damaging the plant. I live in the UK and the plant will be sent to someone also in the UK.

Answers:
I get plants in the mail all the time. Newspaper is the standard method of protection. Larger plants are in cardboard boxes and cuttings in bubble envelopes. The newspaper is a really good "shock absorber" and I have yet to have a plant arrive damaged. Most of mine are bareroot.

Post some seeds.
In a stout cardboard box obviously sized to the plant. Put wet newspaper scrunched up oround the root inside a plastic bag.

Put shredded paper around the whole lot to further protect withoput adding too much weight.
I received some plants through the post recently, the roots were wrapped in wet newspaper then the whole plant wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a padded envelope. They are all doing well.
Good luck
Hi
You can buy a case just meant for posting they are made out of see through thin plastic. I received some plants in these cases when I order some plants of Ebay. I have seen them in a garden centre I went to they are not very expensive just a few pence.

John
