BBQ: How do you clean the darn grill?

Question:Charred meat is so hard to clean off the metal wire grill. Is there an easy way to get it off?

Answers:
Sounds like it is a bit too late for my quick fix, Next time, when it is still hot, but not cooking hot, put a semi thick layer (5 or so thick) of wet paper towels on the grill. The water and heat will loosen up the cooked on meat so that when things cool down you can easily scrape off the residual. Happy grilling!

Try a metal brush. If that doesn't get it, oven cleaner.
I had the same problem... I used EASY OFF (oven cleaner). It worked pretty good.
You can get stiff metal brushes at any hardware store that work really well.
when you get it hot cut an onion in half and rub it back and forth between the grill it works SO good
Thinner and a sponge
no theres not but the steel plate can be cleaned using salt and a hard steel object pressed down on it and push it around like sandpaper.
wire brush while hot.
I leave the gas/coals going for a while and then scrape both directions using the brush. Also, my brush has a blade of the back that is helpful for removing the more stubborn stuff.
Start the grill on HIGH and close the lid. Get a wire grill brush and after about 7-10 minutes open the lid and brush off the grate.
With a charcoal brush when your grill is hot. That will clean all s**t on your grill.
clean with cleaner.
Burn it off with high temp and then wire brush or buy a new grill for each cookout.
Do you have grill brush those work very well, and also try spraying the grate with vegetable oil before you light it. i found that using both of those is a great combo.
Just leave the griller open and your cat will lick it clean over night.
get a wash cloth put it under warm water after that wipe up and down on the grill it wont all come off but get one of those bbq brushes with the metal brissels and if that dont work that best thing to do is clean it with the brush right after u finish bbqing so that the grill is stil warm and the meat will come off it more easily
put some easy off and then scrubbe ,scrubbe like you never done it before
I like using Brillo or Ajax scour pads (the blue ones with the wire) works like a charm.
Oven cleaner first, then a wire brush and muscle, rinse with water.
Repeat if necessary.
If it's a gas grill, turn the heat on high for about 10 minutes and most of the stuff will burn off. Scrape off whatever is left with a stiff wire brush.
If it's not a gas grill you will have to scrub it with steel wool. Try soaking it in real hot soapy water first. You can also use oven cleaner on it but you have to be real careful not to get the stuff on you and don't inhale the fumes.
Oven cleaner
