How do I discourage a mockingbird from taking residence in the tree outside my bedroom?
Question:Every spring, the mockingbirds where I live start getting really active in the early morning hours. I don't mind them in the daytime, but their loud chirping/squawking/mating calls(?) make it impossible to sleep. They keep me up for hours, especially when they decide to hang out right outside my bedroom window. So far, I've yelled at them (which helps for about 3 minutes and they start again) and sprayed the tree with a hose (which keeps them away for about an hour, sometimes more). Help!
Answers:
Get the largest, most realistic-colored plastic snakes you can find and hang them in the tree. Some people swear by plastic owls, but I haven't tried it. The snakes work just fine.
If you need to water the lawn anyway, you can put a rotating sprinkler on a timer, and set it about half-way up the tree. Just set it to start spraying at dawn.
Don't bother with those sonic repellents. They don't work.
i say embrace them
There are motion-activated , hose-end squirters .(?) Meant for deer . Not sure if they'd work , but might be worth a try. Also there are fake hawks & owls available for scaring birds . Not sure if they'd work in that situation .

Put a fake plastic snake on your tree (Walmart has them for $.99). They'll stay away. The same thing works for woodpeckers.
go to "domyownpestcontrol.com" and click on birds it will give you the safest way to get rid of birds without hurting them it works i used to be a service manager for terminix
set it on fire xD
tack a pinwheel (a fan on a stick) or a small windmill where it sits. do not hurt it it is on DNR list or try to relocate it by capturing it
