How do I get rid off fleas in the house w/out pets?
Question:My mother has an infestation that will not go away,we`ve sprayed w/something from a vet,Sargents Flea powder & stuff from an extreminator as well . They keep coming back!

You need to keep using the vacuum...minimum of once a day, and run it slowly over the floor/carpet. Fleas lay eggs and they hatch out at different times, so until all the eggs are gone you will keep getting them. We have one of those bagless vacs, and when we had a problem with fleas from our cats they took ages to get rid of...I used the vac every day until I couldn't see anymore fleas jumping around in the cylinder...the slower you move the vac the more fleas/eggs you will pick up...make sure you use the attachments and get into corners and along the skirting boards...don't forget the furniture either...

You have to treat the whole house at once, in the cycles that fleas procreate.
And if there are no pets in the house, where did the fleas come from to begin with.pet fleas will eat off a human, but they can not LIVE on a human. And they need blood to live.
Are you sure that they are even fleas?

Try using 'flea bombs'. This is an anti flea aerosol that releases its entire contents in a few minutes. You buy them from the supermarket, and put them in infested rooms, close the door and leave them for at least a few hours. You will probably need to leave the house for half a day when you do this. I used them many years back, and they certainly do work. Just make sure that you turn off anything that has a motor (such as a fridge) in close proximity, due to explosion risk, and read the instructions carefully. Give the house a thorough vacuuming afterwards.
Try a product called Staykill ... you should be able to buy it online, even if from abroad - it is the best household flea eradicator that I have ever used (and believe me I have tried everything from flea traps to flea bombs!).
It is a large aerosol spray that kills both fleas and eggs - follow the instructions fully and don't skimp on it ... spray under furniture and in hard to reach places, plus the furniture itself and once the time is up vacuum everywhere. I did my house 4 years ago and we haven't seen a sign of them since :-)
Go to the neighbors and borrow their pets. Be neighborly and share with your neighbors.
Go back to the exterminator and get the stuff again and as several people wrote make sure you reapply the treatment at the specified time intervals
Well, the way my dad did it was get, if have access to them, black walnut leaves and lay around house. Then when they dry just pick them up and vaccuum. I know you think this is a joke but I swear it works. I lived out in the country and we had pets that would bring them in all the time. My dad was a miser when it come to paying for things, and that's what he did. I use them now in my home. How and why it works, I can't tell you ,but it DOES!!
