Woodpecker troubles!?

Question:we have a family of bluetits nesting in a box in a tree in our garden... the bluetit's chicks have only just hatched and the box keeps being visited by a woodpecker who keeps taking the chicks away to eat. is there any way of stopping this from happening? please help me!

Answers:
You may be comforted by the fact that it is highly unlikely that the young birds are being killed.
Woodpeckers eats insects, nuts, and /or sap, depending on their species. If it is taking the young birds from your yard, chances are this woodpecker has lost its young and is trying to replace them to fulfill the "mothering" instinct.

But remember, animals often do kill and eat other animals. There really is nothing wrong with it, even though it is very natural for our hearts to go out to what are in our mind, victims.

Id love to help ...I have blue **** nesting in my garden to but as cruel as it may seem it is nature ..the Woodpecker has to eat, try & accept it & do nothing.
God bless!
take aluminfoil & tie it on a tree, it will reflect the sun light & scare them away.
